“When Did Flattenng the Curve Turn in to Finding a Cure?”-Dave Portnoy
My apologies for the profane language in the video, but it’s a delicious primal scream from Dave Portney, owner of bartsoolsports.com and extremely cathartic for those of us who believe the extended lockdown response to Coronavirus is utter insanity.
I honestly think there are a lot more of us out there who feel this way than those who don’t, but we’ve been conditioned to think this position is wrong and immoral and so we self censure. This has to stop. Now.
The only way the pro lockdown fever that’s affected much of our leadership will break is if enough every day people who feel that what we are doing is wrong stands up and says so. Most politicians act out of fear and self interest; when they see their support base evaporating, they change course.
This is so far beyond the normal political nonsense we argue over and the era of withholding opinions out of politeness is not an option anymore. Government enforced poverty, shattered lives, increased spousal and child abuse, sky rocketing suicide and addiction rates, the scandalous trampling of civil liberties; this is THE issue of our time and more of us have to start acting like it is. And I know many of you are doing this already.
The negative effects of shutting down the largest economy in the world will play out for years to come. The least we can do now is stop the bleeding by ending the shutdown. Contact your governor and local representatives of course, but pro lockdown cultural narrative set by the MSM and most of the left must be overcome too and the only way to do that is by having uncomfortable conversations with friends, family and neighbors.
If you agree with what Dave Portney is saying, please share his video everywhere. If you don’t feel comfortable with the rough language, than express the sentiments in your own words and let everyone know how you feel.
Not necessary to apologize T for a cogent response to the insane world view run by nitwits.

After acknowledging that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer I came to the conclusion after the “shut down” was announced that it was WRONG! I refused to participate in isolating myself and went about my business within the limits placed on me i.e stores closed etc. A slight inconvenience to be sure but I did what I had to do.
Road traffic was meager for the first 2 weeks then it slowly increased especially for semi trucks. I estimate our traffic right now is approx. 10% less then it was prior to the stupid “shut down”.
Don’t wait for permission, get in gear and hit the roads and do what you need to do. More places will open as traffic increases and the cops can’t arrest you all. Besides a lot of cops are looking the other way so get off the duff and hit it!!!

Amen Dennis! I haven’t been staying shut in either but when you live in a pro lockdown blue state like California that doesn’t leave many options to just live your life as usual. Although I did mange to get my hair done on the beauty black market that’s popped in to existence out here.
Even if you live in a more sane state like TX that doesn’t leave you immune to the devastating effects of the shutdown. CA is the 5th largest economy in the world and you can bet us being off line affects the rest of the country, NY as well.

yeah—never a huge fan of the a flippant f word…but here and now—it is not only cathartic, it seems necessary.
I couldn’t agree more.
We drove down to that restaurant again that we went to for Mother’s day—they are quasi open and we ate outside.
But during the drive—about 45 minutes—we passed through several small Georgia towns—business after business closed—and some for good.
The owners of the restaurant we visited had opened a sister restaurant last year, a little Italian place—gone. They couldn’t do the necessary procedures in such a small space.
Gone, gone, gone—all over….and to think, we live in one of the “free” states!!!
Ha–free states…what the hell is that???
When did I ever think I’d hear myself say “free” state????
Tears are welling in my eyes as I type this Tricia—this crap is insane.
Nancy Pelosi is insane.
Barack Obama is insane.
Joe Bidden is insane.
Your governor is insane.
Other governors are insane.
Some mayors are insane.
Atlanta’s mayor is insane because she thinks our governor is insane.
I am so sick of this crap.
I feel like there is some giant evil minion out there who is pulling all the strings to this crap —all to simply discredit Trump—that they hate him that badly that they are willing to sell all of us out.
To hell with us as long as he is destroyed and all who support him.
I’m sorry…is this America?????
Hell, I’m ready to channel my best Patrick Henry in that I want my liberty back—that is our right as American’s —
and agreed–little Napoleon Faucci has got to go.
Gees louise!!!!!!

I know Julie it can al lget so depressing and I go back and forth between despair at the absolute insantiy going on and hope in the new found interest in civil liberties so many people seem to be latching on to.
Keep the faith my friend and hell yeah I”m ready too! 🙂

We’ve destroyed our country. This is most sane response possible. We’ve gone insane and are allowing others to do it to us without a whimper.
Thanks for the post and sharing this.

This video is worth watching. We’ve gone insane in this country. This must be said. We must act.

Seems to me outside the medical community the term “insane” is simply a judgement call.. a perception of others that don’t think, believe, the same as me… or “us”. Just look at Julie’s list of “insane” people. I rather wonder that if I am assigning all those people to some level of insanity, maybe I might question my own sanity.. or in the least, my own requisites for judging others insane. In fact, the disruption to our lives is the disease itself yet because we need to assign blame it’s easy to point fingers at those who are trying to fix the problem and make the hard decisions to try and save lives. It’s easy to assign blame toward traditional political enemies because it’s our traditional political enemies that make our lives difficult even in the “good” times… right? So it makes sense to continue the old political animosities when our current “enemy” to our society is unseen and impossible to kill with our guns, or in the least be unable to respond to our harsh language. Seems to me all we need to do is “kill” (figuratively or literally) all our political opponents.. and the disease will naturally be sure to follow… and we will all live happily ever after.

Extended shutdowns are utter insanity. There was a need for them at first but their expiration date has long passed. They will not prevent overall infections and death from covid, just push them further out. That is what the science says and I challenge you to find anyone anywhere who says otherwise. Now when a second wave occurs we will be much further away from herd immunity than if we had opened up earlier, people’s immune systems will be lowered AND our economy will have collapsed. Hooray for us.

Bait and switch is dishonest. Dishonesty is not sane behavior. It is human. It is not unusual, but it is not sane. It is sinful. It also does not make any sense to defend dishonest behavior.

A primal scream for sanity, well said, Tricia! We had a lovely rally to reopen here yesterday. There was a lot of support, a lot of people honking and waving, but then there are these people wearing a mask and gloves, alone inside their car, who give you a one finger salute. We have totally left the realm of science and entered the realm of pure performance art and politics. Like literally, people in leadership will put on a mask and gloves right before they go on camera or make a video.
To add to the problem, many on unemployment right now, are making more money than they would be by working. Understandably, they aren’t so keen on reopening. The retired people have a stable income and are afraid of this virus, so they don’t want to open either. And of course this is a very blue state, so we are actually rebelling against the President and attempting to dismantle “his” economy.

Oh I’m so glad to hear there was a rally up your way for re opening. I was beginning to lose hope for the state of WA! Sigh, the mask wearing, finger wagging virtue signalers….seems this pandemic has really brought then out in droves.
And I totally agree with you on the unemployment situation and the government incentivizing people to sit on their couch. That’s a BIG problem which we will hear much more about as this continues on.
I’m in a blue backward state too but I’m really proud of the way some of the counties have rebelled against our governor. One of them even labeled themselves a “sanctuary” city against his stay at home orders. Ha, there’s poetic justice!

Continuing these lockdowns is not only insane, in the long run they will cause more death than the virus itself.
Just one example: What does a lockdown to those with diabetes, obesity, heart problems and blood pressure problems if they have to stay at home AND if they can’t go to the gym?
It surely will cause the unnecessary death of some of these people.

Indeed art axes, great example. Lots’ and lots of people are drinking more too and there has been a drastic increase in suicide attempts during the lockdowns.
