Or call it whatever you wish, COVID-19, China Virus, Beer Virus, or the Wuhan Flu, I really don’t care. But please do not let the Chinese government off the hook for this and get away with its by now familiar propaganda campaign of blaming America.
It’s now pretty well known that China’s President Xi Jinping and his Communist Party tried to cover up the Coronavirus after it first sprouted in Wuhan, stifled, punished and disappeared those that attempted to sound the alarm and gave an already bad virus a month long head start in becoming the world health and economic disaster it is today.
As National Review Online states in The Other Chinese Virus,
“The rulers in Beijing know that they are always one serious recession away from being turned out — and worse — and they so feared economic disruption and damage to their own institutional prestige that they placed a losing bet that the heavy hand of their police state would be heavy enough to quash the coronavirus outbreak.”We are all now paying a price for that corruption and stupidity.”
Yes we are and we should all be furious and united in our response to China. Yet instead another schoolyard fight over whether Trump is a racist erupts on social media and the outrage turns inward towards each other instead of where it needs to be.
We need to be careful with this stuff. Like a body being pummeled by its own immune system gone haywire, our country can only take so much tension before it collapses.
Right? A big amen to this post, Tricia. People don’t seem to understand what psy/ops are, fake news and propaganda coming from foreign governments. A couple of friends were recently flagged on FB because they were passing around absolute nonsense. I think it was even labeled communist Chinese propaganda. I’ve also noticed the internet is much slower too, and FB, twitter, you tube, have all announced they are relying on their algorithms to try and screen out some junk. It’s a tricky balancing act, because we want to protect free speech, but we don’t want to spread panic and fear, especially when it’s being instigated by foreign governments. Kind of like our run on toilet paper is a bit amusing, but still a scary consequence of people buying into a lie.
Sadly, few people trust authority and our gov in this country, and for good reason. It’s just that we need to band together anyway, pray for our leaders as the Bible tells us, and trust the President.

Thanks IB. It’s been fascinating and dismaying for me to observe the reactions on social media to all of this, it’s really brought out the inner dictator in some! There is so much bad information out there like you said from foreign governments but if it plays to a narrative someone already believes than they take it as fact and run with it.
We do need to band tougher, you are so right on that,

So very true. China is not our friend and in fact an enemy. We are waking up to this.
Thanks for your insight. Very helpful.

Thanks Michale and you’re welcome. I feel bad for the Chinese people for having to suffer under such horrid and immoral leadership.

How many global pandemic viruses have to come out of China’s squalid standard of living before some people see a pattern? I had swine flu. Anybody ask WHY they were eating bats? But yeah, let’s move toward socialism.

Wow, I didn’t know you had Swie Flu madblog, that must have been terrible! There’s been lots of articles lately on the how coming out of China and their wet markets are probably the cause. We need to pay attention to and address this but the West’s irrational fears of being labeled racist won’t allow that to happen.

Here’s how we phrased it:
See if you can guess the political orientation of the government whose economic system is so crashingly stupid that it keeps most of its people in such poverty that they’re forced to eat all manner of dead wild beasts that they buy in places that are little more than open-air slaughterhouses called “wet markets.” Wait, wait… did you say it was a [Socialist] government?
Hey, maybe some of those big, juicy rats we see all over Mayor DiBlasio’s New York would be really tasty for the family’s evening meal!

Good post as always, Tricia. Now China is saying they haven’t had a new case for two days. Can we believe them? Doubtful, but it would be a good sign.

Thanks Al. It would be a great sign of China has not had new cases, but as the great RR always said, trust but verify.

You’d think a global crisis would shut up the chants from the PC progressive left and their minions — China bears a heavy burden of culpability in all of this and if they were responsible in thinking — well then maybe they’d step up to the plate but why should they when we have our own idiots reinforcing a sense of victim hood rather than responsibility

You really would think so wouldn’t you Julie, but unfortunately we all know better by now. It’s just amazing to listen to the press do China’s bidding for them and people suck it right up. Quote honestly Trump didn’t help the matter during today’s press conference, calling Xi a good friend and a good man that loves the Chinese people. 🙄

Yep. China behaved badly. But can we admit that our own Fearless Leader behaved as badly? He called Covid-19 a hoax, promoted conspiracy theories, denied that it was serious, debunked ideas like social distancing, tried to keep sick people on a cruise ship along with thousands of not-yet-sick people because he “liked the numbers better” with them not onshore, refused to take action even after he finally admitted that maybe there was a bit of a problem, fumbled around and delayed when he did take action, promoted junk science, and is now more focused on “saving the economy” than providing help for human beings. At every step he’s been acting directly contrary to the recommendations of international and US scientists and medical experts. Frankly, the day I learn this horrible man is coughing his lungs out, the happier I’ll be.

I’ll give your comment a like because I like you a lot BT and alway appreciate you coming by. The post is about Communist China completely failing the world, not Trump.
Try switching off MSNBC for awhile, it’ll do wonders for your perspective.

Tricia … You may like me, and you may like my post, but you’re both rude and inaccurate when you make assumptions about me. First, I don’t rely on a single source for my news. I don’t even own a TV; I have to actively, and thoughtfully, look for news online, and I fact check routinely. Second, yep, you wrote about China, in the context of it being just fine to blame their bad behavior for the global pandemic. Acknowledged. But I’d not have thought of you as the kind of writer who ignored the broader context of your subject. China’s misbehavior was months ago. Trump’s is ongoing, and is impacting us RIGHT NOW. You really want to tell me it’s more relevant to blame China?

Most of what you say about Trump is untrue, starting with the “he called the virus a hoax” part. You’re just parroting the narratives the MSM pushes out daily and that turn out to be untrue yet they never report that part. The latest is that Trump is telling people to ingest fish tank cleaning ingredients to cure the virus because some stupid people did just that because the active ingredients of the malaria drug sounded similar to what they had in their cabinet.
You need to at least glance at news that doesn’t come from the left. You don’t have to agree with it but at least you’ll get away from the cartoon character narratives you have about Trump and be able to discuss his very real faults in a debatable way.
You may think I’m rude, but I’ve found in the past having a political discourse with you is pointless. If I could take a snapshot of all the comments you’ve left on my blog and show them to you, I don’t think you’d be so quick to call me rude and judgmental.

Also, since I wrote the post, I think I have some idea what the broader context is and it’s that we have to hold China accountable and not fall for the propaganda they are actively pushing. This involves pitting Americans against each other because they very well understand how easy it is to get the American people in to a frenzy about something Trump said or did instead of focusing on real issues. Your comment lamenting yet again about Trump is the perfect example of this.

I read RedState, Breitbart, WSJ. I watch Fox News. I listen to radio talk show hosts. I disagree with much (not all) of what I hear, but I make a real and conscious effort not to live in an echo chamber, and to know what’s happening outside my own comfort zone. I also, when possible, read – or at least scan – the original material, like the Mueller report, which BOTH sides ignored. So I have to ask, how much time do you spend watching Anderson Cooper, say, and reading the Guardian and NYT? Because every time I read your blog it’s utterly one-sided – to use your own phrase, parroting the Trumpkin lines – and when I read the comments in your blog it’s like being in an echo chamber of applause. Look, I get it, we all like applause. We write primarily for those who agree with us. But I’d thought you were capable of some kind of reasoned discussion, as opposed to an ad hominem defense. For example, yes, idiots are misinterpreting Trump’s ideas about a drug and killing themselves as a result – but you assume I believe he told them to do it. I don’t. I DO believe – because I watched him speaking – that he claimed great progress was being made in finding a cure using a drug with a similar name, and I also heard him claiming to have a “gift” for understanding medicine because his uncle is some sort of genius, and I’ve heard him claim that he himself is a genius … and, in the case of his claims about a Covid-19 cure, his own people had to follow up behind him and say no, they were just looking into it because he’d asked them to, at this stage there’s no progress.
Anyway. This is a waste of time. Sorry to intrude, I won’t bother you again in this way.

Almost everyone I know is 100% certain that Trump called the coronavirus a hoax, and NOTHING in this world will ever persuade them that he didn’t, that that was just a lie put out by people who hate him.
