On Strike

On March 8th, women from around the world will stand in solidarity for fair and equal treatment by going on strike from work.  At least I think that’s the gist, but it’s hard to tell because the goals are so generalized and different depending on who you talk to.

This Huffington Post article discusses the event and the platform from the International Women’s Strike USA website which calls for.

• Reproductive justice for women
• An end to gender violence, the wage gap and all forms of bigotry
• Full social provisioning (i.e, vast expansion of the welfare state)
• Environmental justice for all
• Anti racist, anti imperialist feminism
• A day of “love and liberation”

Well that all sounds a bit squishy to me and I do wish more details were given on just what “unfair and unequal treatment” means for women living in America today. Equal pay has been on the books since 1963, it’s illegal to discriminate based on gender or race and the wage gap myth has been blown apart ad nauseam, which I’ve written about here.

Best I can tell is the strike appears to be about promoting a far left agenda under the guise of empowering women. As assistant professor and organizer Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor says “ it’s really a way of injecting politics into the developing women’s movement against Trump.”

Spinning a False Victimhood Mentality Narrative

It also needs to be said that there are nefarious figures involved who are furiously spinning a false victimhood narrative about women in this country that is simply not true.

These movement leaders don’t give a whit about women really, only that their natural insecurities get exploited enough for them to believe the lie that a systemically sexist and controlling patriarchy is continually holding them back. Ironically that type of thinking really will keep someone from getting ahead, as it prevents self reflection and course correction. When blaming others becomes the default response to life’s inevitable difficulties, it becomes extremely difficult to make needed changes for growth.

As I wrote about in this earlier post  :

“It’s easy to forget the freedoms we have in America today.  We can pretty much do or say what we want but there are those that would have us forget this. They want us to believe we are being held back by some societal oppressor; an “ism” that forever prevents us from reaching our full potential.  With this view, everyone and everything becomes an oppressor, something to be offended by and fight against.”

Acting in Good Faith

I don’t doubt that many of the women who will participate in the strike are earnest in their desire to promote women’s causes and are acting in in good faith. They should look deeper at the movement’s darker forces though and decide if that’s really who they want to affiliate themselves with. Government Control is Enslavement

Government controls whatever it manages and once it grabs a toehold it doesn’t stop. The more we allow it to do things like set pay levels, meddle in education and mandate healthcare coverage, the greater the power of the bureaucrat becomes over very personal areas of our own lives. That’s not empowerment, it’s enslavement and certainly not in the best interest of women, nor anyone, accept those in power of course.
