On Strike

On March 8th, women from around the world will stand in solidarity for fair and equal treatment by going on strike from work.  At least I think that’s the gist, but it’s hard to tell because the goals are so generalized and different depending on who you talk to.

This Huffington Post article discusses the event and the platform from the International Women’s Strike USA website which calls for.

  • Reproductive justice for women
  • An end to gender violence, the wage gap and all forms of bigotry
  • Full social provisioning (i.e, vast expansion of the welfare state)
  • Environmental justice for all
  • Anti racist, anti imperialist feminism
  • A day of “love and liberation”

Cover for Far Left Agenda

Well that all sounds a bit squishy to me and I do wish more details were given on just what “unfair and unequal treatment” means for women living in America today. Equal pay has been on the books since 1963, it’s illegal to discriminate based on gender or race and the wage gap myth has been blown apart ad nauseam, which I’ve written about here.

Best I can tell is the strike appears to be about promoting a far left agenda under the guise of empowering women. As assistant professor and organizer Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor says “ it’s really a way of injecting politics into the developing women’s movement against Trump.”

Spinning a False Victimhood Mentality Narrative

It also needs to be said that there are nefarious figures involved who are furiously spinning a false victimhood narrative about women in this country that is simply not true.

These movement leaders don’t give a whit about women really, only that their natural insecurities get exploited enough for them to believe the lie that a systemically sexist and controlling patriarchy is continually holding them back. Ironically that type of thinking really will keep someone from getting ahead, as it prevents self reflection and course correction. When blaming others becomes the default response to life’s inevitable difficulties, it becomes extremely difficult to make needed changes for growth.

As I wrote about in this earlier post  :

“It’s easy to forget the freedoms we have in America today.  We can pretty much do or say what we want but there are those that would have us forget this. They want us to believe we are being held back by some societal oppressor; an “ism” that forever prevents us from reaching our full potential.  With this view, everyone and everything becomes an oppressor, something to be offended by and fight against.”

Acting in Good Faith

I don’t doubt that many of the women who will participate in the strike are earnest in their desire to promote women’s causes and are acting in in good faith. They should look deeper at the movement’s darker forces though and decide if that’s really who they want to affiliate themselves with. For more on this, see insanitybytes22’s thorough and excellent post, “It’s a feature, not a bug”.

Government Control is Enslavement

Government controls whatever it manages and once it grabs a toehold it doesn’t stop. The more we allow it to do things like set pay levels, meddle in education and mandate healthcare coverage, the greater the power of the bureaucrat becomes over very personal areas of our own lives. That’s not empowerment, it’s enslavement and certainly not in the best interest of women, nor anyone, accept those in power of course.

  2. this kind of crap makes me sick… as it is nothing more than a personal agenda of a few veiled in the notion of unity and “sisterhood” for the many….
false and dishonest at best, sinister and undermining at worst…
as it uses others for and in the pushing of and promoting of anger, fear, division, hate…
everything these “organizers” advertise to banish—-banish my foot….
I am absolutely tired and even bored by the incessant protesting and marching—-shut up already and let’s get about doing what we do—-working, living and caring for our families and our country….
Endless marching and protesting is counter productive to our democracy as all energies are being poured into a never ending state of anger and even into a misguided state of denial…
Don’t be selfish…as that what this all boils down to…selfishness which is a far cry from justice for all….

Oh so true Julie! I feel the same way. I have no problem with people speaking their minds and especially with speaking out against the government but there’s so much dishonesty here as to motives. And double yes to your sentiment there about getting on and being productive in our own private areas. How great would this country be if we all did that?

I got a good belly listening to a talk show yesterday. One of the callers pointed that birds of a feather flock together. Hence, liberal women spend most of their time with liberal men and each other. Therefore, it is no surprise that liberal women have such a low opinion of themselves and the men with whom they associate.

Hard to know where to start with stupid like this. My first reaction is to shave, change diapers and do dishes as publicly in-their-faces as possible. My second thought is how transparently the feminist agendists give away what they really think about women. We are just physical items which cook, clean, drudge, and be victims.

Lol madblog, that was my first inclination too. Can you imagine the uproar if we staged a public “doing dishes” demonstration? The agenda IS so transparent, but most people don’t take the time to look more closely. They think they are attaching themselves to something righteous but it’s so not the case.

Well put, Tricia. My daughter is a very successful businesswoman. She got there by hard work and study and taking on challenges. One thing for sure, she didn’t get where she is by staying out of work as a protest to how tough she has it.

Right? Good for your daughter Al. There’s not a doubt in my mind that the reason she is hardworking and successful is through your good influence and lessons for her growing up. Society is in desperate need of more dads like that.

Well I, for one, am glad to see Feminists finally disavow their long history of Racism and Imperialism. But I’m perplexed… how does a Feminist ‘strike’ from that which they do not do such as shave, cook, clean, use make up, conduct something called emotional labor, etc? Or is it more of a series of strike ‘options’ which one chooses some of the things on the list they actually do then not do them? I think madblog makes an interesting point, shouldn’t striking Feminists do all of those things for that day? I’m a guy so please type any responses slowly so I can understand. All caps might help too. Thank you in advance.

Well good points Mike! I’m completely perplexed too so won’t be much help I’m afraid. I’d also like to know just what does “gender violence” and “emotional labor” even mean? We live in a land of made up words and perpetual outrage. Hold on tight!

I really don’t think that women want to go “on strike.” That might put the thought into the heads of MEN to do the same. THAT’s an interesting thought exercise to put into one’s head and swish around for a bit.

Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor is absolutely correct. This is much ado about nothing to stir the “emotional pot” for some political phony gain. The democrats have drawn from another page of their playbook just as they have for years. This time instead of blacks and minorities of color they are using women. Nothing will be gained from this pie in the sky dream much of which is already reality but they cannot think of anything else that will raise the emotional ire of the unthinking anti Trump idiots out there.
My three sons are married to very successful women who think independently and do not have to rely on any mamby pamby wishful thinking morons to “empower them”. God and yourself empower you not some government program. Get real!

So true Dennis and Yamahtta-Taylor is indeed correct Dennis and at least she is honest about the intentions while the others lie and pretend it’s in the best interest of women. Well, they certainly don’t speak for me!

  9. When controversial issues ignite emotional responses it commonly creates at least two different paths. One is merited with good intentions providing productive dialogue necessary for creative solutions. The other is disingenuous; designed to antagonize and create anger, fear and resentment. Unfortunately, one must frequently travel significant distances before knowing which path one truly is situated.

As an optimist, I’d like to think this upcoming event is designed with POSITIVE intentions. It won’t take long to discover the TRUTH, however.

Yes, Jonathan, that is very true about the different paths people travel with these types of things. My complaint is many have no idea of the dark intentions of the people leading the way.

Wow. Absolutely loved this blog. You are so right in the speculation that behind the scenes there are nefarious characters whose main intent is to divide and conquer. All this while the main stream media will obfuscate the truth for the left. I’m glad you said it because I can’t!
