What a great day it was for this thing called freedom and the people who care about such things as national sovereignty, economic independence and cultural pride!
Oh there will be cries of economic doom, of racism and xenophobia by elites who once again completely misread the very people they are supposed to represent; lots of tsk, tsking I’m sure going on throughout the Halls of Parliament. Here in the U.S. we will no doubt soon be lectured by Our own Condescender in Chief on how very small minded the Brexiters are and those that support them.
Something very big is going on which most of us, politicians aside, intuitively know. What happens next is anybody’s guess. It will probably be chaotic, messy and unpleasant for awhile, but righting a ship is never an easy business.
Plenty of time to deal with all of that. For now, a toast to my fellow freedom lovers across The Pond. Cheers and well done!

It’s been a night for celebration (unless you’re an EU, Beltway, or Wall Street official). The European media is reporting real fears of a Domino Effect. (I’ll make a prediction: keep your eye on Italy, they’ll go next).

Italy has been electing a lot of anti-EU politicians at the local levels lately. Renzi, the Italian President, and the Pope say they want to remain; but they’ve both been having high-level meetings with Putin lately and Italy’s been sending diplomats (independently of the EU) to all of the recent Russian and Chinese-hosted Eurasian economic conferences. I suspect that Renzi and Francis have their fingers in the wind and are going to bail on the EU if they think that the Italian people are behind them.

Americans have been in favor of self-determination since 1776. I am very much so. Way to go UK! Now elect the leadership to do it wisely.

Unfortunately James I think many Americans have forgotten what self determination is or have become afraid of it. I do hope as well the UK leaders are wise in their way forward but for now, as you say, way to go! 😉

Bravo for the Brits who took the time to speak their mind and vote. I think many Americans are in complete understanding and support of the UK vote. How long can the EU hold together given world events? As usual, we find there is no ‘free lunch.’

Right on point, Tricia. Let’s hope all the Rinos in Congress take the hint. We welcome immigrants, but there’s a system for it all. You actually come in legally and work to become an American citizen. Anyone remember that? Ignoring it (and the Constitution along the way) does irreparable harm to our society and values. At the rate this idiot President is going and all those like him (Hillary?) we will be under Sharia Law by the end of this century, if not sooner. Good post.

Who can argue against your ‘national sovereignty’ with a straight face trish? It seems China and Japan are easily recognized by their culture too. Countries are not supposed to be cookie cutters of each other.
It’s a strange thought, but you wonder if this determination would have been different without the Trumpian effect…………good or bad, it seems it has teeth.

Countries nor individual s are not supposed to be cookie cutter look a likes but that doesn’t stop the technocrats from trying to make it so. I have to agree too that our r own Trumpion phenomenon is playing a role but I view that as more of a symptom to an overall massive frustration with elites around the world. Things they are a changing!

There is an old saying: Good fences make good neighbors. Obviously, our leaders have their own agendas, and fences get in their way.
We fence our yards, keep dogs that bark at strangers, install windows that don’t open from the outside, put locks on doors, keep our money in banks, and so forth because we don’t want to be abused. We set boundaries on each other so we don’t kill each other.
In their irrational quest for a multicultural society, our leaders have removed the fences around our nation. Yet that is just the least of the boundaries they have breached. They also show no respect for our Constitution, a fence that is suppose to keep them within bounds.
What I think the people of the UK objected to is the power EU officials had scooped up. So operators could make money, politicians breached the barriers that protect the cultures of ancient nation states. They forced EU countries to accept hordes of strangers, many just aimless young men just hoping to strike it rich, and violent crime escalated.They forced cities and communities to follow arbitrary regulations, and government services suffered. Families suffered. Thanks to state interference and hordes of unwelcome immigrants, parents found it more and more difficult to raise their children as they see fit. Nevertheless, everyone has to accommodate the unscrupulous cronies of the politicians, and that includes their never-ending desire for cheap labor.
Well, if the UK can say no, maybe we can find a way to do the same.

We would agree that multiculturalism is in itself not bad. In cities, you have pockets of Poles, Slavs, Irish, German, Hindu, etc; but the difference is, these people do not want to make miniature cities or countries as replicas of their own. They assimilate. Key word there, as they learn English and respect a country that offers so much.
Shariah now………………………well, that’s obvious………..and some bad bad fruit.

Yes, ColorStorm, assimilation is key and is something that used to be a no brainer when it came to immigration policy. Somewhere along the line things went daffy though and to request of our guests that they learn our language and follow our laws somehow became racist and intolerant. Not good all around, especially when it comes to Shariah law and the absolute ninnyness of many here in the west who refuse to call it out for what it is. Bad fruit indeed. 😉

It has always been in back of my mind that the British people would do the right thing and “Leave” the EU. I watched a lot of the results last night and the elites were wrong again even though they lied and had most of the media pushing the “Stay” agenda.
Humans long for self determination and self rule and that is what the Brits voted for last night. Now we Americans have to do the same!
Our government will proclaim a” mea culpa” and promise to do the right thing but they cannot and will not give up their power wealth and position to ensure the American people are first when considering legislation. They will not reform but will nibble around the edges to try and placate the masses while doing just the opposite of the will of the people.
Vote them all out!!! Terms limits!!! Live under the laws you pass, NO exceptions!!! And the hardest of all demands to meet “Tell the Truth”!!!

Feel free to rant here any time Dennis. 😉 I agree too that people yearn for freedom and self determination. That goes hand in hand though with man’s desire to control and rule over others, something our Founders understood quite well when setting up our government.

I don’t like the idea of term limits. Instead, I’ve proposed an amendment that sets the House up for six-year terms like the Senate, staggered into the same three class structure, and gives rise to the sign “Re-Elect No One.”
Serve one term only, with at least five years passing before you can pursue office again. President, Senator, Representative — one term and done.
This way no one spends time in office campaigning to stay in office. Except for the Presidency, none of these offices pay “retirement benefits” as all are intended to be temporary positions. And they can completely focus on their jobs, as they are not having to grandstand votes for optical effects. If they are good people, they can do a good job.
As it is, the long-term legislative aides write the bills anyway. Or at least, they used to. Now they are handed bills by external think tanks, many of which are Soros critters. That needs to be addressed as well.

An Article V convention of the states, or (in the Constitution’s literal wording) “a Convention for Proposing Amendments.” Neither the President nor Congress have to approve it, and eight states have already signed up for it so far. We need a total of 34 to force the convention, then 38 to ratify amendments. Even some of the blue states will cooperate, as we’re taking some power that the feds have arrogated and returning it to the states.

The Brexit will probably spell complete disaster for Europe.
That is because European governments are parliamentary and that form of government insures that the Ruling Class is always in charge.
So all the Brexit will do is cause a mess until the Ruling Class reestablishes its control.
And by the way, does Great Britain even have a constitution?
Historically, any European who wanted freedom, immigrated to the United States.
That’s because the United States is the only country in human history specifically designed for freedom.
So it is our responsibility here in America to get rid of the Democrat Party and throw Progressivist tyranny on the ash heap of history.
That way the world has a bastion of freedom as an inspiration for all of humanity.

I am not yet sold that the Brexit will spell disaster for Europe. The EU yes and plenty of bumpy rides will follow but if they are smart and stick to their guns it will change things for the better. And yes it is OUR responsibility to right our own ship here in America, isn’t it Silence. I hope and pray we do before it is too late.

What Britain needs to be watchful against right now is that the angry Left-Wing cultural elites are going to be retaliating in various ways; like negative press, sabotaging their economy, fomenting civil unrest and other tactics. Some of this has already started. The EU and their confederates on Wall Street really fear a Domino Effect and want to make an example out of Britain.
